Weekly Blog [11/23-11/29]

This is a poster drawing I did over the weekend. I took the idea from something I had done in my high school art class. Our teacher instructed us to draw until we filled up the entire paper. I find this technique really inspiring because the absence of rules allows a person to be as creative as they would like. I just drew whatever came to mind and I didn't let how it looked stopped me from trying new things.

I like how the artist of this animation really worked hard on the emotions of the characters. It makes the animation appear more realistic but still keeps the charm of a cartoon imagination.

This animation also has very well done emotions of the characters.

Weekly Blog [11/9-11/15]

This sketch was inspired by the previous sketch I did of a tree. I want to try and draw various types and styles so that I can improve my sketching and coloring skills. I really like the over all design I have of the trees and I think if I can continue to work on this particular subject I can continue to improve creatively. This is a fall tree because the colors aren't as bright as my previous tree and it looks a little dullers. I gave it the turquoise touch to make it special and not so dead on the paper.

This is a cyanotype photo I developed in my photography class. The cyanotype cloth has special chemicals on it for development. In order to develop a picture, place an object on the cloth out in the sun (opaque and transparent objects look the best). The time that you leave the cloth and object out in the sun is determined by the strenght of the sun on that particular day. For example, if it's really bright outside, you don't leave it out for very long. The cloth will appear green but after taking it out of the sun, wash it off with water until it turn blue and has white. Hang up on a cloths line inside until fully dry. The results can be very beautiful.

I thought this cyanotype was very beautiful. Using elements from nature such as leaves and flowers come up with some of the best results.

Assignment 7 [Animation]

I uploaded my animation on youtube because the file was too large to be uploaded directly to my blog.

Weekly Blog [11/2-11/8]

This sketch came to me in a random inspiration moment. I was walking to class one beautiful fall day and I noticed how gorgeous the fall colors were. I also took in the shapes and bends of the trees. I really liked all the textures of nature I saw around me. I tried to recreate some of the textures and colors I saw in this sketch above. I believe this is my best sketch so far because I realized that I put a lot more of my heart into it than I did with my other sketches. I really wanted this to turn out beautiful. I've very happy with the end result.

I found this music video inspiring because of the movement of the camera and the editing of the film. I'm almost postive the majority of this video was done with a green screen effect but the result is pretty interesting. I like how the video transitions from real life to the creations from the green screen. I think overall it flows nicely however some parts do not connect fully. One example of this is when Taylor is not affected by the stormy and windy weather around her. She doesn't get wet and her dress or hair does not move with the wind. I do think this video and the green screen effects is something that I want learn more about.

This video on the other hand does not have any special effects and has a very different feel to it. The only editing that I notice is the combining of a bunch of video clips and then overlaying all of it with the song. I like this video because it works well with the song. It also does a good job of getting the message across that you don't have to do a lot of fancy editing or special effects to make a video that follows and and looks nice.
